Description
The LIGHT is a passive, shoulder support exoskeleton by the French company Human Mechanical Technologies (HMT). It is a 100% purely mechanical wearable device. The exoskeleton weighs 2.9kg, and it can provide anywhere from 1kg to 6kg of assistive force. Its primary application would be for occupations that have prolonged or repetitive static tasks requiring the user’s arms to be raised or outstretched.
Unlike most shoulder-support passive exoskeletons, the LIGHT provides support directly to the arms, a little bit past the elbows. This design likely makes the LIGHT exoskeleton better for tool holding and other applications that require offloading not just the shoulders but the elbows as well. HMT also offers a smaller passive exoskeleton, the PLUM’.
