Description
The Hypershell X by Hypershell began as a funded Kickstarter.com project in 2023 and has evolved significantly since then into a finished consumer product. It is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, travelers, athletes, and individuals seeking enhanced daily movement. It can boost leg strength by up to 40% and reduce physical exertion by 30%.
Key Features:
- The Hypershell X’s “M-One exoskeleton motor system “provides up to 800W of peak power and 32 N·m of continuous torque at the hips.
- An integrated AI-based MotionEngine takes advantage of the built-in sensors with a 2ms response time to estimate the user’s force, posture, and position. This real-time analysis allows the exoskeleton to seamlessly switch between operational modes to maximize support and a natural gait.
- The Hypershell X’s adaptive copilot offers ten modes: Walk, Race Walk, Running, Up Hills, Down Hills, Up Stairs, Down Stairs, Gravel Road, Mountaineer, and Cycling. The app can help track use time and optimize performance.
- Weighing 1.8 kg (4 lb), the Hypershell X features an “AeroFlex SoftSuit” crafted from ten layers of composite materials for flexibility, water resistance, breathability, and support. It’s adjustable to accommodate various body types, providing personalized comfort for extended wear.Â
- Battery Life: The exoskeleton boasts a battery range of up to 17.5 km (10.8 miles), depending on the support level. Additionally, the battery is capable of 65W fast charging, reaching 50% capacity in approximately 35 minutes.Â
- The Hypershell X is meant to operate effectively in temperatures ranging from -20 °C to 60 °C (-4 °F to 140 °F) and holds an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
Models:
- Hypershell Go X: Provides 0.5 horsepower output with the AI-based MotionEngine LIT, weighing 2 kg and offering a 17.5 km battery range.Â
- Hypershell Pro X: Double the torque (1 horsepower) output with the standard AI-based MotionEngine, also at 2 kg with a 17.5 km battery range.
- Hypershell Carbon X: This model also features one horsepower output with the AI-based MotionEngine. It is constructed with advanced materials and weighs 1.8 kg. It includes a 17.5 km battery range and enhanced durability for extreme operating conditions.Â

I’m a 75 year old male with knee osteoarthritis. I have had the base model Hypershell for three months. As a non tech new to this area I am astounded at the quality, design and operation. And the cost. Feasible. But, always a but, I have realised the base model at 18 nm is not strong enough to give me WOW factor. I’m six foot one and 115kg and whilst the rig fits perfectly it’s simple not powerful enough. Hypershell have been fantastic we are upgrading to 32 nm model as I write.

Sooooo great. Been using the XPro for almost 5 months now and I am so happy for the assistance it provides me when walking. I have a MS and thanks to that device I doubled my walking distance. It really changed my entire life !

I bought the hypershell for my housemate who has MS and finds it difficult to walk around all day without getting in a lot of pain, she has left leg problems with foot drop.
the hypershell arrived within in 2 working days of our order here in the UK, there were no customs charges as they ship from regional distrobution centres.
using the hypershell she has more than trippled the distance she can walk without getting tired, we went to a boot fair which requires a lot of walking and normally after the boot fair she is done for the day, very tired and in pain. this time however she came back not tired at all or in pain, in fact after we got back she suggested we go walk down to the pub which we never do.
we are aware that the hypershell is not marketed as a medical aid but I think with a few tweaks to the software, it could easily be one.

As an ambulatory wheelchair user, the Hypershell has replaced my wheels in many situations, leading to much appreciated greater accessibility, and the ability to go further than ever before. It is lightweight and effective, and as long as the price stays affordable, it will revolutionise a huge number of lives. I feel lucky to be in the first wave of people trying it out.

Mid-range model Hypershell, backed on Kickstarter. 64 year old male with reduced stamina due to illness. Makes a noticeable difference for me when hiking. It is not perfect, but the company has a fairly responsive online presence and is providing regular software and firmware updates.
