Description
HELK is designed to provide additional support, reducing the load on the joints and improving the user’s mobility. Its primary use is for the healthcare sector, focusing on patient transfer. The HELK is envisioned to reduce muscle fatigue while preventing musculoskeletal injuries when lifting and transporting patients. Historically, home nurses and medical staff who have been responsible for handling patients (such as nurses, technicians, emergency response, paramedics, etc…) have had abnormally high back pain and injury rates.
This exosuit aims to reduce sick leave, prevent injury, and increase medical staff’s capabilities. This is a purely textile-based exosuit for lumbar support, weighing only 0.7 kg (1.5 lb), envisioned to provide between 7 to 15 kg ( up to 33 lb) of support.
