The Daiya Industry DARWING PA-Jacket is a pneumatic back-support exoskeleton for work and industry.

 

Description

The DARWING PA-Jacket is designed to assist workers in lifting by utilizing pneumatic artificial muscles. This exoskeleton is a type of lightweight and flexible support-wear exosuit.

The DARWING PA-Jacket has three main features:

  1. Artificial pneumatic muscles assist the user with lifting heavy objects. The artificial muscles contract when filled with air.
  2. Elastic bands and elements run parallel to the spine, providing tension when bending forward.
  3. Posture support with a corset-like belt around the pelvis. The design intent is to stabilize the sacroiliac joints.

The DARWING PA-Jacket weighs about 3.4kg (7.5lb), which includes a control switch that can be strapped to either hand. The trigger switch can be attached to any finger but is usually shown at the thumb. The exosuit also comes with the main power button with an LED light near the hip.
