Description
The Harmony SHR is designed to assist and compensate for gravity in the shoulders of people with neurological and musculoskeletal movement impairments. The shoulder is the most complicated joint in the human body. In engineering, it is simplified to no less than five separate degrees of motion. The Harmony SHR can reproduce up to 85% of the shoulder’s natural range of motion.
By combining the repetition, precise motion reproducibility, and persistence of a robot, this wearable aims to improve the range of motion and strength of the shoulder and arm for patients who can use it. It is not meant to replace but amplify existing physical therapy protocols.
The system is a bilateral, powered, fixed-frame/floor-supported device rather than a mobile wearable. Harmonic describes it as a self-contained unit operated by a pendant and mounted on three lockable casters, with features including motorized sizing, quick-connect patient attachments, active or active-assisted range-of-motion use, and mirror/Bilateral Sync therapy modes. Bioness acquired the assets and business of Harmonic Bionics in 2025.
