HAL Lumbar Type for Well-being

HAL Lumbar Type for Well-being is a powered lumbar/hip assist device from CYBERDYNE for care, physical rehabilitation, wellness, and independence-support applications. This catalog entry covers the BB04 and FB02 variants: BB04 supports both caregiver back-load reduction and care-receiver body-function support, while FB02 focuses on trunk and lower-limb training through repeated voluntary exercises.

Description

HAL Lumbar Type for Well-being is a non-medical HAL wearable device family intended for care environments and home-care exercise. It uses the wearer’s bioelectrical signals to assist intended movement around the lumbar/hip area, supporting sit-to-stand practice, trunk and lower-limb function, and greater independence.

The BB04 variant is positioned for two care-related roles: reducing lumbar stress for caregivers during care movements such as transfer and position-change support, and assisting care receivers with weak legs in maintaining or improving body function. The FB02 variant is focused on trunk and lower-limb training and is described for use in settings such as group exercise at care facilities or personal exercise in home care. (Recommended to use only after training and understanding the device limitations.)
