Description
ExoCell is a light, passive occupational exoskeleton that folds up into a lightweight backpack, making it effortless to carry around anywhere when not in use. This exosuit has a small footprint and weighs less than 3 pounds (1.3 kg). It is meant to alleviate the strain on the back and hips to avoid back pain caused by repetitive and physically demanding labor.
It is designed to provide 25% to 35% assistance throughout the day (if lifting 20 pounds of material four times per hour in an 8-hour work day, that would be 640 pounds, but it would feel only like 480 pounds with the ExoCell). This passive exosuit relies on purposefully positioned, patent-pending elastic bands. The ExoCell should find good homes in work environments that require repetitive lifting, such as warehouse, stocking, and patient handling.
