Description
The Exoback builds on the technology of the discontinued Hercule V3 by RB3D, which began as a joint military/civilian exoskeleton project later marketed exclusively for work and industry. The Exoback is a powered lower-back support exoskeleton meant to unburden workers from heavy loads (among other possible applications).
The Exoback has two electric motors at the hips that can provide up to 72 Nm of assistive torque. Its primary purpose is to decrease musculoskeletal injuries (MSDs) in workers performing repetitive tasks that require lifting or leaning forward. This wearable robot has smartphone connectivity and a battery designed to run through a complete nine-hour work shift.
