How far does a Hypershell battery go uphill?

Hypershell’s October 26 battery guide puts two figures side by side. For the same battery configuration, the company reports up to 30 km (18.6 mi) of walking at 30% Eco assistance, 13.8 km (8.6 mi) in its uphill test at 100% Eco assistance, and 35 km in Hyper Mode cycling. More interestingly, this translates to 7.5 h, 2.5 h, and 1.5 h, respectively. This answers a common criticism that battery power and range are communicated only for a single best-case scenario. These are manufacturer lab figures, but they give hikers something more useful for planning a return trip than a single maximum-range number. See the test conditions and battery guide at Hypershell.

Bologna Airport trials exoskeletons for baggage handlers

At Bologna’s Marconi Airport, GH Italia is testing Comau’s MATE-XT GO on a specific part of the baggage journey. Workers wear the passive shoulder exoskeleton as they lift bags from the check-in conveyor onto carts bound for the aircraft. The trial has enough devices to equip a full team on a shift, and union representatives will help assess how the equipment affects the work. Read more at DIRE, Italy’s national news agency.

Angel Robotics Adds H10 to Its Registered Products in Thailand

Angel Robotics announced on October 29 that its ANGEL SUIT H10 walking-assistance exoskeleton has completed medical-device registration with Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration. Thailand is the H10’s third overseas registration, following Malaysia and Vietnam. The company’s ANGEL LEGS M20 gait-rehabilitation robot was already registered in Thailand; this latest milestone means both models are now registered across all three markets, expanding the company’s regional offerings for gait rehabilitation and walking assistance. Read more.

Insurance Pilots Support Greater Use of Medical Exoskeletons in China

Medical exoskeleton rehabilitation sessions have entered local health-insurance or long-term-care insurance pilots in Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, according to CCTV Finance. One Zhejiang hospital reports 90% reimbursement for the training, with monthly patient-training visits increasing fivefold, from approximately 40 to 200, after its pilot began. The experience suggests that paying for treatment sessions could help translate installed equipment into more frequent use. These are local programs covering rehabilitation services, with the utilization figures coming from a single hospital.
