ExoETA

ExoETA is a soft, powered upper-limb exosuit for shoulder and elbow assistance during overhead tasks. The system uses a tendon-driven robotic mechanism integrated into an elastic garment to reduce muscular effort, fatigue, and joint workload while preserving freedom of movement.

Description

ExoETA is a fully wearable active robotic exoskeleton developed by ETA Bioengineering for users performing prolonged arm-elevation tasks. The system is built around a soft exosuit, a single tendon with a custom anchor point, a proprietary force-transmission mechanism, and an integrated wearable control unit positioned on the user’s back.

The device is intended for overhead work and activities of daily living, including industrial tasks such as automotive work below a vehicle body, as well as home-setting activities such as drilling, screwing, and other tasks requiring arm elevation. ETA describes ExoETA as a low-profile alternative to rigid exoskeletons, using soft elastic materials, reinforced zones, a lumbar-mounted motor, Bowden cables, and kinematic/EMG-based control to provide active assistance while maintaining natural movement.
