42 Consumer Exoskeletons in 2026

Consumer exoskeletons have exploded in popularity, but what are they? In episode 36 of the Exoskeletons and Wearable Robotics podcast, we go through a list of product families. You can listen/watch us go through it, or scroll down for a bullet-point version below. This isn’t meant to be a definitive list, but rather to clarify what we usually mean at ExR when we talk about consumer devices, while the catalog itself will still be updated over time. Along the way, they share firsthand impressions where available, note what remains unknown, and explain why tracking this rapidly changing field is a challenge. The list groups some model variants together: 42 refers to product families, not 42 companies or 42 individually tested devices. This episode was recorded before IFA Berlin 2026. Availability and launch plans reflect the time of recording; as always, check the manufacturer websites for current details.

The list we followed is below, along with a few additional entries. For now, the biggest news is the release of the Hypershell Halo (4-motor exo) and Haier opening as many as 17 exoskeleton stores in China, doubling down on consumer exos for elderly people with small frames and low body weight.
