LEXO

The LEXO is a powered gait rehabilitation exoskeleton with a fixed frame that remains stationary even while the user is moving. It is being developed by the Austrian company Tyromotion which has over a decade of experience with physical rehabilitation equipment.

Description

Unlike the vast majority of other lower-body exoskeleton devices, the LEXO is an end-effector exoskeleton.  Classically, an end-effector is the gripper of a robotic arm. In the exoskeleton industry, however, the term is more often used to classify an exoskeleton that adheres to the shape of the human body vs. one that does not. In the case of the LEXO, only the foot is directly mobilized. The LEXO provides gait rehabilitation through fast setup, high patient activity, and trunk support.

The LEXO allows for direct patient transfer. The patient is suspended via a harness lift, which can also be set to actuate with each step.
