Hapo BR

Hapo BR (by Hapo) is a passive back-support exoskeleton designed to relieve lumbar discomfort in work and daily-life situations. It uses a spring-rod antigravity system to decompress the spine and redistribute part of the trunk load toward the hips, helping reduce back stiffness and fatigue while preserving freedom of movement.

Description

Hapo BR is a lightweight, non-motorized back exoskeleton from Hapo intended for users who need everyday lumbar comfort during standing, leaning, or light handling tasks. The device uses vertical traction via spring rods and two textile belts located at the floating ribs and hips to create spinal decompression and redirect part of the trunk’s weight toward the hips, thereby lowering biomechanical stress on the lumbar region.

The passive antigravity system operates without batteries, maintaining mobility and muscle activity while offering adjustable assistance that can be tensioned or released as needed. Hapo BR weighs approximately 0.89–1.1 kg (1.95–2.43 lb) depending on size, features breathable, washable textiles, and can be donned in under 1 minute. Nine size combinations (three high-waist and three low-waist belts) support a wide range of body types, making it suitable for diverse professional environments where back fatigue and stiffness are a concern (the spring elements are completely detachable from the belts).

Application: Lumbar support / back relief for everyday activities and occupational tasks; reduction of biomechanical stress on the lumbar region; comfort and MSD prevention for workers who stand, lean, or bend frequently. This exoskeleton is intended to provide a partial alternative path for gravity’s forces, reducing the load on the lower spine.
