Description
The AstroShell Alpha 1 Pro is a consumer-oriented, powered leg exoskeleton that straps around the waist and legs to provide assistive torque during walking and outdoor activities (e.g., hiking, climbing, and commuting). AstroShell describes the system as using an integrated multi-sensor approach and adaptive algorithms to interpret movement intent and adjust assistance across varied terrain.
According to AstroShell’s published specifications, the Alpha 1 Pro has a device mass of 2.0 kg (4.4 lb), a stated peak output of 1,000 W, and a maximum continuous torque of up to 40 N·m (29.5 lb-ft). AstroShell also states a maximum assisted walking range of 24.0 km (14.9 mi) and an operating temperature range of −20 °C to 60 °C (−4 °F to 140 °F). The exoskeleton has two replaceable batteries mounted at the front. An optional over-the-shoulder strap that connects to the device is sold separately.
