The company has a laser-like focus on surgeons and medical professionals who have to stay upright for hours while remaining focused, regardless of how fatigued they may feel.
Archelis Inc. is a Japan-based wearable robotics company focused on one clear mission: reducing strain from standing work. Originating from the idea of reducing fatigue for surgeons who must stand for hours, Archelis has expanded that same ergonomic concept to many other “on-your-feet” professions, factory and line workers, security staff, cooks, chemists, and other roles where prolonged standing can drive leg fatigue and low-back discomfort.
The company’s flagship offering, also called Archelis, is a purely mechanical, non-powered lower-body exoskeleton (often described as a “wearable chair” or “chairless chair”) designed to make long-duration standing more sustainable. Instead of using motors or batteries, Archelis redistributes a portion of the user’s body weight away from the feet and into the shins and thighs, helping reduce perceived fatigue over a full shift and easing load on the lower back.
Archelis is a member of Japan’s Assist Suit Association and is a recurring participant at WearRAcon Europe (A+A Düsseldorf), where the company has also delivered presentations.
