In September of 2021, after five years of research and development, Biomotum was ready to transition to a commercialization stage for its first product, the Biomotum SPARK robotic exoskeleton. The Biomotum SPARK is an active ankle exoskeleton for walking assistance. The company has its roots in helping children and young adults with cerebral palsy. In order to facilitate the commercialization and visibility for research partnerships of the Biomotum SPARK Robotic Exoskeleton, the company has launched a new website and brand identity. Biomotum was founded in Flagstaff, AZ in 2019, by Dr. Zach Lerner, Dr. Ray Browning, and Joe Lerner.
We have been fortunate to have Dr. Lerner on the Exoskeletons and Wearable Robotics podcast: Moving Pediatric Exoskeletons Out Of The Research Lab, Dr. Zach Lerner, Co-Founder of Biomotum
In addition, we also have a user-centricic episode with Melissa DiVierti, who used the Biomotum device at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab and had a lot to share about her experience (she is a user with an art, engineering, and business background). Episode 20: Art Meets Engineering, User-First Exoskeleton with Melissa “Blue Eye Queen”
Likewi, ExR also featured the Spark ankle exoskeleton in the now-distantstant 2021: Biomotum SPARK Robotic Exoskeleton Now Available to Investigators for Clinical Trials.
