Wave

Wave is a passive occupational back-support exoskeleton for trunk flexion tasks. HMT describes it as a 100% mechanical device that assists with forward bending of the back, with the goal of reducing lumbar muscle demand by supporting the weight of the upper body.

Description

Wave is intended for workers who perform repeated trunk flexion or maintain constrained back postures, including use cases in industry, construction/public works, agriculture, material handling, and the public sector. HMT says the device was designed with La Poste field agents and is manufactured in Tarbes, France.

The device is listed as a passive back exoskeleton with a one-size-fits-all design, detachable, washable textiles, adjustable assistance, and assistance that can be deactivated to preserve freedom of movement. HMT lists a device weight of 1.9 kg (4.2 lb), assistance up to 15 kg (33 lb), donning/adjustment in under 1 minute, and removal in under 30 seconds.
