NekSpine Study Highlights Ergonomic Gains for Forward-Flexed Work

Composite Manufacturing says a University of Alberta-led study found the NekSpine passive exoskeleton cut muscle strain and discomfort in tasks designed to mimic surgery-like postures. The release positions the device as a possible ergonomic tool not just for surgeons, but also for dentists, industrial workers, and others who spend long periods bent forward.

New Field Study Publication Tests Passive Exoskeletons in SMEs Across Four EU Countries

Shaoping Bai shared new research based on pilot site evaluations in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands, focusing on how passive exoskeletons perform in real SME environments. The study (part of the EU EXSKALLERATE project) gathers worker feedback from construction, manufacturing, and logistics, and argues that field-based usability and acceptance data matter alongside lab results.

Lifeward Reports Lower 2025 Revenue as AlterG Weakness Offsets ReWalk Stability

Lifeward reported that full-year 2025 revenue fell 14% year over year to $22.0 million, driven mainly by weaker AlterG sales and a sharp decline in MyoCycle revenue. ReWalk Personal revenue was down only slightly for the full year and actually rose in the fourth quarter, suggesting the company’s headline decline was less about its flagship exoskeleton business and more about softness in other parts of the portfolio.

Ukraine Tests Exoskeletons (Hypershell) on Front Line for Artillery Logistics

Short-short version: Video of Ukraine’s 147th Artillery Brigade testing exoskeletons to reduce the physical strain of carrying heavy shells.

Analysis: This is very different from testing a back-support exoskeleton to help with bending and lifting… potentially a powered hip exoskeleton can help artillerymen move through mud and soft ground, whe

New Humotech Episode Spotlights Elliott Rouse and Open-Source Wearable Robotics

A new episode of The Human Part of Humotech features Dr. Elliott Rouse discussing wearable robotics, rehabilitation engineering, and the broader open-source ecosystem around devices like the Open-Source Leg. The conversation frames current progress not just as hardware innovation, but as community building around tools that can accelerate the field.

Project MARCH XI Unveils Its Next-Generation Exoskeleton Design

Project MARCH has published its official design reveal for the MARCH XI exoskeleton, outlining a 2026 goal centered on hands-free, self-balanced walking and more natural day-to-day interaction. The team says the prototype is aimed at enabling a pilot to visit a museum with minimal assistance, with building, testing, and training continuing toward a live demonstration in July 2026.

ETH Zurich Students Build EMG-Controlled Grippers for an Educational Exoskeleton Hackathon
RELab ETH Zurich shared a new medical engineering hackathon in which third-year Human Medicine students built mechanics, electronics, and software for EMG-controlled grippers that attach to an educational elbow exoskeleton. This year’s cohort used Auxivo’s EduExo Pro and presented their work in a CYBATHLON-inspired competition, making it a strong example of exoskeleton education moving beyond theory.

Second Edition of Wearable Exoskeleton Systems Announced
Val Moliere highlighted the release of the second edition of Wearable Exoskeleton Systems, edited by Shaoping Bai, Gurvinder Singh Virk, and Thomas Sugar. The update is pitched as a substantial refresh that adds new material on sensing, performance assessment, commercialization, lessons learned, and emerging trends across the field.
