BioRob 2026 – IEEE RAS/EMBS International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics

The 11th iteration of the IEEE International Conference on Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics (BioRob 2026) is organized by two IEEE Societies: Robotics and Automation (RAS) and Engineering in Medicine and Biology (EMBS). “BioRob delves into both theoretical and practical challenges arising from the integration of robotics and mechatronics into medicine and biology. The main objective of Biorobotics is to evaluate biological systems through a ‘biomechatronic’ lens, striving to unravel the scientific and engineering principles that underpin their exceptional performance.”
For 2026, the conference website lists “Exoskeletons, Exosuits, and Wearable Assistive Devices” as one of the top conference themes, and the main website prominently features multiple exoskeleton devices (as of writing this entry). In the news section, the organizers welcome ideas for competitions and challenges, workshops and tutorials in addition to the usual call for papers.
BioRob 2026 will take place August 1–4, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, as a research-focused IEEE conference rather than a commercial trade fair. Given the dedicated theme on exoskeletons, exosuits, and wearable assistive devices, BioRob 2026 should be particularly relevant for researchers and engineers working on medical and rehabilitation exoskeletons, soft exosuits, and control algorithms, rather than for end-user demos or buyers/end-users.
The organization offers financial assistance to attend the conference in person for presenters or IEEE RAS members; more details are available on their website.
