IFA Berlin 2026 is dominating exoskeleton news, with multiple companies showing off consumer exoskeletons or revealing plans and prototypes for new ones. The integration of the knee and hip into one full solution is the biggest single innovation. This isn’t to say that nothing else happened with occupational and medical exoskeletons, with a release of studies and new evaluation sensors. Beijing Offers 15% Consumer Subsidy for Exoskeletons
Beijing has added exoskeleton robots to its consumer purchase subsidy program, offering eligible buyers 15% off the final price after other discounts, capped at RMB 1,500 per item. Halo is a consumer exoskeleton with four motors coordinating assistance at both hips and knees for hiking and other outdoor activities. The company reports a device weight of 2.6 kg, peak power of 1,490 W, and up to 20 km of range per detachable battery, with assistance designed to support climbing, descending, squatting, and cushioning landings. Its updated motion-control system combines more than 30 sensors with algorithms intended to adapt assistance to the wearer. Pre-orders for the first 200 units, designated the Origin Edition, start at US$2,299, with phased deliveries planned for November 2026. Read the press release
Ascentiz Brings H + K to IFA 2026, Showcasing the World’s First Modular Exoskeleton Platform
Ascentiz is showcasing its H hip-assistance and K knee-assistance modules at IFA 2026, using a shared belt that supports either module or both together. Repetitive exoskeleton use induces persistent coordination changes in wearers
In a five-day laboratory study, 24 healthy adults completed daily 25-minute reaching sessions with gravitational support, speed-dependent resistance, or no exoskeleton. Researchers found changes in shoulder–elbow coordination during the same task performed without the device, particularly after gravitational support, even though movement time, accuracy, and overall joint range remained largely unchanged. – Nature
ExR’s Perspective: Crucially, participants were tested only about 23 hours after the previous session – less than one day later. The study included no delayed follow-up after the final exposure, so it did not determine or detect whether the changes lasted multiple days, weeks, or longer.
ISO Advances Draft Standard for Workplace Exoskeleton Integration
ISO has registered ISO/DIS 25563, a 51-page Draft International Standard proposing a structured process for integrating occupational exoskeletons and other wearable physical-assistance devices into the workplace. Intended for user organizations, designers, manufacturers and integrators, the draft addresses identifying the need for assistance, selecting and designing an appropriate solution, assessing the interaction between the worker, device and work situation, and managing deployment. It applies across industries and organization sizes but excludes medical, rehabilitation, gaming, sport and leisure applications and does not establish a product-certification process. Registered on August 24, 2026, the document remains under development and is not readily available. –Â ISO
Auxivo Launches Sensor-Based Workplace and Exoskeleton Analytics Service
Auxivo has introduced Auxivo Analytics, an on-site service that uses wearable movement sensors and software to quantify physical workload, identify ergonomic risks, and evaluate whether an exoskeleton provides meaningful support for a particular task. During a typical visit, one to two hours of work are recorded, with same-day dashboards and reports showing movement demands, risk assessments based on methods such as KIM, and the estimated workload reduction provided by an exoskeleton. The service is currently in an early rollout across selected Central European markets. – Auxivo
Innophys to Debut Muscle Suit Every-Light: Innophys has announced plans to unveil its new Muscle Suit Every-Light assist suit at the 2026 International Logistics Exhibition. The weight has been reduced by about 1.2 kg (about 28%) from the old model, and changed from 4.3 kg to 3.1 kg and it has been redesigned from two size variants down to one meant to fit workers with height of 150 to 185 cm. Read more.

PLEXO Project Developing Shoulder Exoskeleton for Brachial Plexus Injuries
Fraunhofer IPA and partners are developing PLEXO, a lightweight exoskeleton intended to help people with traumatic brachial plexus injuries perform everyday activities such as cooking, washing and dressing. The planned system will use remaining muscle signals to control powered arm assistance, potentially combining myoelectric control, position feedback and functional electrical stimulation (textile-integrated); the three-year project is currently developing its initial demonstrator with direct input from prospective users. – Fraunhofer
Single-session estimation of cardiorespiratory fitness, lower-limb strength, and core strength using a wearable hip-joint exoskeleton
Using an exoskeleton to assess physical fitness: researchers combined movement data from Samsung’s Bot Fit hip exoskeleton during resisted knee-raise exercises with heart-rate readings and demographic information to estimate cardiorespiratory fitness, lower-limb strength, and core strength. The study is suggesting that existing exercise exoskeletons could also support fitness assessments. However, this remains a proof of concept. Read the paper
