There is some discussion if Hocoma's robotic products are "exoskeletons" as they are attached between one or more human joints but are fixed to a platform. Â Regardless, Hocoma is one of the oldest players in the field of robotic rehabilitation. Â The company was one of the first to discover the importance of the user's intent, in addition to the machine, to be able to produce accurate and repeatable motion.
Update note 2026: Hocoma AG, the Swiss rehabilitation robotics company, merged with DIH International in 2016. Since then, Hocoma’s ownership, sales structure, and web presence have changed, and Hocoma’s U.S.-localized website currently indicates that U.S. sales activities have ceased. U.S.-based visitors may also be redirected to /us/ pages or encounter unavailable product pages, so older Hocoma product links may not reliably lead to current manufacturer information. Exoskeleton Report is retaining Hocoma device entries for reference and catalog completeness, but current product availability, regional sales/support status, and technical documentation should be verified directly with Hocoma, DIH, HAI4M, or an authorized regional distributor.
