Biosafety is an exoskeleton and workplace-ergonomics business line operated by Iruña TecnologÃas de Automatización S.L. from Orkoien, Navarra. The project began in 2018 with the goal of helping Spanish companies identify and implement appropriate exoskeleton technologies rather than simply supplying a single device. Biosafety works with more than ten brands, continues to evaluate emerging systems for the Spanish market, and collaborates with regional partners to provide testing and support in different parts of Spain. The organization has also expanded its activities into Portugal.
The company provides support throughout the implementation process. This can include an initial consultation, analysis of the workplace and physical task, ergonomic risk evaluation, selection of a suitable exoskeleton, onsite testing, short-term rental before purchase, data collection, worker training, acquisition, follow-up, maintenance, cleaning, warranty management, and repairs. Biosafety also works with external technical organizations for more detailed ergonomic measurement and validation when required.
Biosafety primarily focuses on industrial and occupational applications, including automotive manufacturing, logistics, construction, metalworking, repetitive production tasks, manual material handling, sustained postures, and other physically demanding work. Its multi-brand catalog covers passive and powered systems for the back and lower back, shoulders and arms, hands and grip, wrists, neck, and lower limbs, allowing the company to compare different technologies for a particular task instead of relying on a single manufacturer or product category.
