Industrial

Long-Term Adoption – Exoskeleton Success Stories

Why are most long-term occupational exoskeleton studies from North America, and are we missing any from Europe/Asia?

Medical

AFT International GmbH and the Biomedical Engineering Lab at Ruhr University Bochum are developing a bio-inspired, mechatronic ankle-joint exoskeleton that uses non-linear springs and a tunable clutch for task-specific walking assistance, designed for true daily wear. The project is funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) through the ZIM—Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand.

Consumer

Ascentiz Unveils the World’s First Modular Exoskeleton — Featuring Swappable Knee & Hip Joint Modules

ExR’s Perspective: “Ascentiz” is most likely RoboCT’s consumer brand name for their exoskeleton. RobotCT has been signaling its readiness to enter the consumer exoskeleton market for some time. They join Hypershell and DNSYS with released products, while several other companies like Vigx, WIRobotics, SKIP, Decathlon, and others are gearing up for wider releases in the U.S. and elsewhere. Ascentiz is also preparing to launch a Kickstarter.com campaign.

Awards & Recognition

WIRobotics was selected as a 2025 Korea Top Job-Creating Company (일자리 으뜸기업) and received a presidentially signed certificate from the Ministry of Employment & Labor on Sept 11, 2025.

RoboCT’s URA Multi-Pos Lower Limb Rehabilitation System won the Bronze Award of the 2025 New Material Design Award.

“This award was judged by the Design Committee of the China Furniture Association, the China Industrial Design Association, and international industry experts, aiming to promote the integration of original Chinese design and technology, and recognize product designs that demonstrate industry foresight and social value.”

Technology

Impact of a Lower Limb Exosuit Anchor Points on Energetics and Biomechanics

• Personalization really matters: there’s no universal setup.

• Actuator routing and anchor positions significantly affect gait and effort.
