Wieldy Exoskeleton

Officially named: “Wieldy Exoskeleton Camera Shoulder Load Vest with Double Handle Dual-Damping Arm for DSLR DV Camera.”  This is a second generation Steadicam technology where rather than having one spring arm protrude from a vest there are two that come from the back.

This device was designed to hold large camera gimbals, but it could be used for other applications.

The Wieldy Double Arm Exoskeleton is manufactured by the Beijing Wieldy Camera Equipment Sales Co., Ltd.   The company was founded in 2009.  It focuses on professional film equipment.  Reportedly, the company has it own machinery factory, model shop, assembly plant and testing workshop.  However, it is not clear if it will leverage its capabilities to design and market the dual arm exoskeleton beyond camera operation.

The Wieldy Double Arm Exoskeleton is a passive, spring loaded device.  It can reduce the burden of holding objects at or above waist level.  The manufacturer claims this exoskeleton can support a total weight of up to 20kg (44 lb).

Exoskeleton Report does not endorse one exoskeleton product over another.  The exoskeleton catalog is purely for educational purposes.  The catalog is meant to provide an easily accessible birds-eye view of the exoskeleton industry, and a quick method to sort exoskeletons by type and purpose.  All prices are approximate and are meant to provide a general sense of the cost of the devices.
