Introduced by Zen KOH during his keynote at the inaugural ICAIR hosted by KITE in Toronto in 2023\, this innovative framework is built upon three core principles: \n 1. Consolidation: Streamlining technologies and practices to reduce complexity and enhance efficiency. \n2. Standardisation: Establishing unified protocols across devices and systems to ensure compatibility and reliability. \n3. Interoperability: Enabling seamless communication and data exchange among devices\, platforms\, and stakeholders (clinicians\, patients\, caregivers). \nThese principles are further enriched by personalized\, AI-driven treatment plans and adaptive robotic systems that respond dynamically to patients’ evolving needs. In this webinar\, experts will explore how interoperability—allowing robotic exoskeletons\, virtual therapy platforms\, rehabilitation technologies\, and patient monitoring tools to work cohesively—can lead to continuous care\, reduced redundancies\, and comprehensive patient insights.”

SUMMARY:Fraunhofer IPA - Exo Experience Day
DESCRIPTION:Fraunhofer IPA will host its first Exo Experience Day. This will be an in-person event for twelve specialists looking to get a crash course on occupational exoskeletons: from selecting and evaluating to implementing and future outlook. Note that the event will most likely be in German. \nCompanies and employees can be drawn towards wearable devices with the promise of combating: \n\nshortage of skilled workers\naging workforce\nin-house skill retention\nlower number of missed days\nor as a supplement to already implemented job improvements\n\n“These are just a few of the reasons why manufacturing companies often come across the term “exoskeletons” in their research. However\, the research also shows that the world of exoskeletons is extremely diverse. The systems differ\, among other things\, according to the supported body regions and whether they are active\, passive or soft. Currently\, there are already more than 100 commercial systems on the market and each has its special features. For ‘beginners\,’ however\, it is incredibly difficult to get a good overview and find out what is important for their own requirements in the company.” \n“The Exo Experience Day is therefore an offer for all companies that want to deal with the question of how exoskeletons differ\, how they work and whether exoskeletons can offer adequate support in their production. The Fraunhofer IPA is one of the world’s largest research institutes in the development and evaluation of exoskeletons. Our experts will introduce you to the functional principles of different types of exoskeletons and give you tips for the right choice as a neutral institution. Test various exoskeletons from different manufacturers in our Exoworkathlon® course (realistic application scenarios developed with industry) and get an impression of the potential and fields of application of these technologies.” \nThe event is meant for: plant managers\, occupational safety\, ergonomics experts\, innovation managers\, or those with a focused on occupational medicine. \nFor more information\, location\, price and registration\, visit the Fraunhofer IPA event webpage. \n

SUMMARY:Exosuit Case Study Panel at ProMat
DESCRIPTION:HeroWear\, maker of the Apex and Apex 2 passive (elastic) back-assist exosuit\, is proud to present a large user-focused panel discussion at the upcoming ProMat. \nTitle: “Exosuit Case Study: Deploying exosuits to improve worker well-being and improve productivity” \nThis is an opportunity to hear directly from companies and organizations implementing occupational exoskeleton technology: \n\nAmerisure (Insurance)\nURM (Food Distribution)\nWhole Foods Market (Grocery)\nRoyal Australian Air Force (Military)\n\nIt is not often that organizations\, such as the ones listed above\, are willing to share their experience with adopting these new ergonomic solutions. This will be real-world data\, not lab studies or hypotheticals. For context\, the Royal Australian Air Force acquired more than 400 Apex suits in 2024\, and it will be fascinating to learn more about how their integration is going. Expect this session to provide valuable insights into how exosuits impact injury rates\, productivity\, and workforce well-being. \nIf you are not at ProMat or can’t attend the panel\, there is a possibility that it will be recorded and released to the public at a later time. \n

SUMMARY:Applied Collegiate Exoskeleton (ACE) Competition 2025
DESCRIPTION:The next ACE Competition will be held at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor\, Michigan. This international event is designed to spur innovation and highlight first responders and similar occupations that can benefit from emerging physical augmentation technology. It has been running since 2018\, and this will be the sixth time student teams will compete to impress the judges with their powered exoskeletons. \nTeams are challenged to create power suits that can navigate challenges that emulate real-world emergency scenarios. The ultimate goal is to give participants hands-on experience in a collaborative\, innovative environment. The first team to sign up is the Michigan STrength Augmenting Robotic eXoskeleton\, M-STARX (team profile). The team is driven by the idea of using “exoskeleton technology to turn real-life heroes into larger-than-life superheroes.” \nWhy is the competition geared toward first responders?\n“Aside from its inherent life-threatening nature\, the work of a firefighter is grueling. Despite the best of training\, in the face of an active shooter\, even the most tactical responder can be terrified. When the stakes are life and death\, digging through the rubble is exhausting. Now imagine a firefighter who can climb higher and move faster with an exoskeleton propelling them upwards and forwards. Envision a tactical responder who can charge and neutralize an active shooter more safely and just as nimbly with an exoskeleton carrying extra body armor. Picture that responder digging through rubble in the wake of a collapsed building and being able to move stones and beams they otherwise couldn’t with their exoskeleton strengthening them.” \nImportant links:\n\nWhat is ACE – overview and history\nRecap of the 2024 competition\nSponsor Interest Form M-STARX – the competition can benefit from more judges\, funding\, and marketing\n2025 Rulebook and Deadlines\n\nThe registration deadline is fast approaching (Feb 28\, 2025)!

Although this is a virtual and augmented reality event\, it will be held in person. This is not an exoskeleton-specific event. As a matter of fact\, the last few summits have not had any wearable robotics or exos. Regardless\, there is much overlap between AR/VR and wearable robotics for physical augmentation: most rehabilitation robotics utilize gamification\, and some haptic feedback devices utilize exoskeleton components. \nThis event is geared towards exploring enterprise solutions for use on the job site\, from remote support and augmented work instructions to virtual collaboration\, training\, and safety applications. Typically\, it draws around 300 – 1000 attendees\, dozens of sponsors\, and 90+ presenters. The summit aims to bring together leading companies from industries such as construction\, manufacturing\, healthcare\, and energy to discuss how XR\, digital twins\, AI\, and more are transforming work environments. Attendees are meant to gain first-hand insights into piloting\, deploying\, and scaling these technologies across various applications like product design\, data visualization\, and asset management. \nThis event is geared towards engineering\, healthcare\, or energy. It offers a unique opportunity to connect with innovators and discover how to enhance workplace efficiency\, collaboration\, and safety using the latest in XR and emerging tech. SUMMARY:CES 2026
DESCRIPTION:CES 2026 – The Global Stage for Innovation \nJanuary 6–9\, 2026 \nLocation: Las Vegas Convention Center and venues across Las Vegas\, Nevada\, USA \nOrganizer: Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® \nWebsites: https://www.ces.tech \nAbout: \nCES is billed as “the global stage for innovation\,” the most powerful annual tech event where the entire consumer technology ecosystem converges—major brands\, startups\, investors\, policymakers\, and media. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association\, CES spans everything from automotive\, AI\, smart home\, and gaming to digital health\, robotics\, and wearables. \nFor exoskeletons and wearable robotics\, CES has become increasingly relevant: recent editions have featured multiple wearable robot and exoskeleton Innovation Award honorees (e.g.\, Hypershell Carbon X and pediatric gait/walking exoskeletons) within the Robotics and Digital Health topic areas\, and CES 2026 Innovation Award announcements already highlight new wearable assistive robots. The number of exoskeleton systems on display at CES has been steadily increasing. I even published an article on Forbes.com titled “Exoskeleton Technology Has A Strong Showing At CES 2025\,” highlighting the increased presence of exoskeleton producers at the event. As of this entry\, eight exoskeleton producers are already signed up for CES 2026\, and likely many more will be in attendance (sometimes joined to a “parent” company or distributor booth). \nThis year\, the Exoskeleton Report team will do their utmost to be personally at the event and learn about the latest and greatest in exo technology.

SUMMARY:Augmented Humans 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Augmented Humans (AHs) International Conference is an ACM-affiliated research conference focused on physical\, cognitive\, and perceptual augmentation of humans through digital technologies. The series brings together human-machine interactions\, robotics\, wearable tech\, AI\, and neuroscience communities to explore how tools like exoskeletons\, brain–machine interfaces\, XR\, wearable and ubiquitous computing\, and assistive devices can extend human capabilities at the individual and societal level. Originating from the “augmenting human intellect” vision of Douglas Engelbart\, the conference now runs annually (most recently in Glasgow\, Melbourne\, and Abu Dhabi\, and in 2026 at OIST in Okinawa) with peer-reviewed proceedings published in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Digital Library. \nAugmented Humans is an exoskeleton-related event. From the current conference site and past years: \n\n\nThe 2024 and 2025 conference topic lists explicitly include \n“Exoskeletons and assistive devices for the amplification of human physical strength and physiological sensing.” \n\n\nThe 2026 call on augmented-humans.org lists a broader theme block that includes \n“Cyborgs\, Exoskeletons\, and Assistive Technologies” is one of the main topics. \n\n\nEarlier editions (e.g.\, 2021) also included “Exoskeletons and technologies for the amplification of human physical strength” in the topics list\, and past ACM Digital Library proceedings include exoskeleton papers.
