SUMMARY:Fraunhofer IPA - Exo Experience Day
DESCRIPTION:Fraunhofer IPA will host its first Exo Experience Day. This will be an in-person event for twelve specialists looking to get a crash course on occupational exoskeletons: from selecting and evaluating to implementing and future outlook. Note that the event will most likely be in German. \nCompanies and employees can be drawn towards wearable devices with the promise of combating: \n\nshortage of skilled workers\naging workforce\nin-house skill retention\nlower number of missed days\nor as a supplement to already implemented job improvements\n\n“These are just a few of the reasons why manufacturing companies often come across the term “exoskeletons” in their research. However\, the research also shows that the world of exoskeletons is extremely diverse. The systems differ\, among other things\, according to the supported body regions and whether they are active\, passive or soft. Currently\, there are already more than 100 commercial systems on the market and each has its special features. For ‘beginners\,’ however\, it is incredibly difficult to get a good overview and find out what is important for their own requirements in the company.” \n“The Exo Experience Day is therefore an offer for all companies that want to deal with the question of how exoskeletons differ\, how they work and whether exoskeletons can offer adequate support in their production. The Fraunhofer IPA is one of the world’s largest research institutes in the development and evaluation of exoskeletons. Our experts will introduce you to the functional principles of different types of exoskeletons and give you tips for the right choice as a neutral institution. This will be real-world data\, not lab studies or hypotheticals. For context\, the Royal Australian Air Force acquired more than 400 Apex suits in 2024\, and it will be fascinating to learn more about how their integration is going.
