SUMMARY:Last Automotive Exoskeleton Group (AExG) Quarterly Meeting for 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Automotive Exoskeleton Group\, AExG\, is scheduled to hold its last quarterly meeting for the 2024 calendar year on Thursday\, December 5\, 2024\, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Pacific Time. This online meeting will be conducted over Microsoft Teams as an Online Event. The AExG quarterly meetings are an excellent way to stay current on practical industrial/occupational exoskeletons and connect with application experts in the field (as opposed to developers or researchers). \nThis meeting: Find out how Wegmans Food Markets are using back exoskeletons in their operations. Featuring a presentation by Nancy Laurie\, PhD\, CPE\, Occupational Health Manager\, Environmental\, Health & Safety at Wegmans –> her experience with Verve Motion and practical lessons learned in implementing exoskeletons. “Exoskeleton use in Selection Tasks -Lesson from the Field“ \nVisit the AExG website for more information: https://www.aexg.org\, but note that the best way to get involved is through their LinkedIn group: LinkedIn. \nThe LinkedIn group contains information on prior meetings. \nAbout AExG:\nIt is a collaborative initiative dedicated to promoting the safe and effective integration of exoskeletons as an ergonomics solution\, primarily\, but not limited to\, the automotive assembly. Their primary mission is to create and share industry best practices\, success\, and cautionary stories. The group plays an essential role in driving collaboration between manufacturers\, exoskeleton developers\, and research institutions to advance the use of wearable technology to reduce worker fatigue and injuries\, particularly those related to repetitive and overhead tasks.

SUMMARY:12th F48 Meeting\, Fall 2023
DESCRIPTION:The 12th ASTM International Committee F48 on Exoskeletons and Exosuits Fall 2023 meeting is scheduled for September 13-15\, 2023. The planned location for the meeting is the University of Central Lancashire\, Lancashire\, UK. Non-committee members are welcome to attend the meeting in person\, but registering in advance will be appreciated. Unfortunately\, the meeting won’t be back-to-back with the ExoGames\, which are scheduled to take place one month earlier at the same location. This will be the first time F48 is meeting outside of the US. \nMore information and registration will be available on the F48 website (link) closer to the meeting date. \nWhy Attend?\nThe Exoskeleton Report has an entire section dedicated to standards news and initiatives (link)\, but why does it matter? In a nutshell\, it comes to communication and accessibility. The first is obvious if every single of the over 120+ exoskeleton developers used their unique terminology\, labeling\, and description\, it would be hard for interested parties to compare and contrast the different wearables. Improved accessibility is a little bit more abstract. In a nutshell\, without standards\, the responsibility falls on exoskeleton implementers to do all of the leg work: selection\, safety verification\, determining how to measure usability and success\, etc… That is potentially a lot of duplicative work and responsibility\, which has to be reproduced at each site that adopts exoskeletons. ASTM International has been working for years and has already published 22 exoskeleton voluntary standards to streamline and simplify the selection\, maintenance\, adoption\, and eventual retirement of exoskeleton products.

SUMMARY:Paexo Demo Day Berlin
DESCRIPTION:The ExR team always claims that the best way to understand an exoskeleton or an exosuit is to personally don it and try it out in a real or simulated work environment. Ottobock\, the maker of the Paexo industrial exoskeleton series plans to do just that. The company will host a Paexo Demo Day in Berlin on September 20th\, 2021 with five workstations available for 20 to 30 minutes at a time. \nWhile an in-person event during this Covid-19 crisis sounds daunting\, Ottobock is taking additional precautions for the safety of its employees and participants. The demo rooms will be ventilated and face masks are required\, in addition to extra hygiene concepts. \nTrying out a Paexo Shoulder prototype at WearRAcon 18.\nRegistration and additional information can be found on the event’s website: https://paexo.com/demo-day-berlin/ The scheduled time is September 20th\, 2021 at the Therapy Hall\, Bötzow Areal\, Prenzlauer Allee 242\, 10405 Berlin. The Paexo Demo Day will take place from 9 am to 5 pm local German time. Each tour is expected to take about 20-30 minutes\, with a new one starting every 10 minutes. The organizers ask that interested parties register in advance to reserve a time slot. \nThe Exoskeleton Report team has had the opportunity to demo one of the Paexo industrial exoskeletons\, the Paexo Shoulder\, not once but twice. Having the opportunity to physically don a wearable provides a better picture of what the exoskeleton industry is all about than any amount of writing can. It truly can be an “Aha! Eureka!” moment. \nIf additional resources were available\, there are people and organizations that would already like to see a mobile exhibit of exoskeleton technology travel around the U.S. and the E.U. For now\, however\, the Ottobock Demo Day Berlin is the closest event to that vision of the future.
